dc.description.abstract | Swift depletion coupled with hazardous effects of nonrenewable energy sources (such as petrol, coal, and diesel) on the environment has inspired all governments around the globe to participate in identification, development, and commercialization of the technology to produce environment-friendly renewable fuels. In this context, recent studies on bioethanol have reflected its viability to be one such energy source due to its production by renewable and sustainable biomass with comparatively less emissions than fossil fuels. Meanwhile, advancement in next-generation sequencing technology and genetic engineering has provided an opportunity to not only inspect into omics data but also to produce hyper-productive strains for efficient degradation of lignocelluloses material at the industry level. This chapter talks about the availability of omics data for microorganism strains and biomass required for bioethanol production in India (third largest energy consumer, second most populated, and counted among the fastest developing countries). | en_US |
