dc.description.abstract | The increasing use on the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for military and commercial purposes has been seen recently because of their ability to operate easily and effectively in the dangerous locations while keeping the humans at a safer end. The use of small sized UAVs is now seen in the areas of commercial photography and aerial imagery. Also the smaller UAVs should be able to handle the military search operations more effectively due to their small size. To validate the assumptions, we considered few designs of different UAVs before we settled down to creating a Quadcopter. Our objective for this project was to design and build a quad-rotor aircraft that is capable of a stable and long flight with semi autonomous control. We were fascinated by the grace with which quad-copters fly, or the beauty in their mechanical simplicity, or their usefulness as an artistic platform. The payload of our Quadcopter design includes a camera and telemetry that will allow us to watch live video from the Quadcopter on a laptop that is located up to 1 Km away. We have successfully been able to build and test the Quadcopter and it is taking a stable flight. | en_US |
