dc.description.abstract | In the present project, study and improvement of engineering properties of materials used in a flexible pavement have been carried out by conducting various tests on highway materials. In the First Phase of the project, the coarse aggregates have been tested for the important engineering properties. In the second phase tests have been conducted on bitumen and improved bitumen has been designed by adding different amounts of crumb rubber, ethylene vinyl acetate and styrene butadiene styrene at varying temperature. In the final phase of the project, tests have been conducted on the sub grade (black cotton soil) and then its properties have been improved by adding lime to it. Finally the results are compared and an improvement in the strength and durability of the bitumen pavement is observed. | en_US |
