FILE PORT a web based file manager for JUIT

Abstract

The debate of using paper documents over electronic documents has been a long topic of interest. Although both have their merits and demerits, with advancing technologies, it is a wiser decision to slowly upgrade the processes in any industry and shift to electronic file systems to make best use of the available technologies and make operations more efficient. Every year, loads of documents are generated by every organization. Keeping track of such documents as well as maintaining and storing them is lengthy and cumbersome, and is generally not automated. This file manager aims to enhance the information system in any university and facilitate the transfer and sharing of information, removing any barriers from between. It would help the faculty assign tasks to the students with a click of a button, in an organized fashion, and keep a track of all such assignments. The students can view all the assignments, and upload the solutions on the web. It also aims to improve sharing of documents and file between the faculties from different department, and sharing of important circulars and notices within the university.
