Abstract: The contamination of water reservoirs by paint and textile industrial waste has been escalating daily. These wastes contain dye molecules causing harmful impacts on living beings. In an aqueous solution, dye molecules form stable bonding networks with water molecules, complicating their removal. Traditional purification methods were ineffective in eliminating toxic dyes from water. As a result, techniques such as absorption and photocatalysis have been developed. Absorption involves the addition of absorbent materials that capture the dye molecules. However, this method has limitations e.g. converting liquid contamination to solid contamination and the inability to reuse the absorbent. Photocatalysis is a green and widely adopted technique that treats dye-polluted water by degrading toxins using photocatalytic materials. The photoactive materials drive chemical reactions by harnessing the energy of photons, a process known as a photo-induced chemical phenomenon.
