Water pollution is a prominent cause of death globally, especially in rural and undeveloped areas where access to resources and municipally cleaned water is limited. Water pollution also contributes to the spread of many chronic, debilitating diseases. 25% of the world's population does not have access to clean drinking water at this time. Since the beginning of humanity's existence, nature has given us a variety of resources for our survival. Among them is cellulose, a biopolymer that is widely available, found in higher plants, and produced by some acetic acid bacteria.en_US
